The thing is, the ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega isn’t an upgrade from any current motherboard. It’s a newer design that’s capable of handling the latest HCC processors. This motherboard also sports a huge and robust cooler that comes with two little internal fans to keep things cool even under heavy loads.

What’s in the Box?
The ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega comes in your usual-looking ROG package. But despite this, it’s a sturdy and durable box that will surely protect the motherboard inside.
The ROG logo is on the upper right corner, while the name of the board is at the centre-left area. Below this has “gaming motherboard” written, and it’s to let people know what product is inside. Of course, you’ll see ASUS written on the lower left corner of the box, while the bottom right area features the products’ certifications and more.
We liked that ASUS segregated the different items in the package to keep things neat and organized. First, you get the ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega nicely set in the box. Underneath this, you get other items and accessories as well.
We saw a folder-like box that holds a welcome note from ROG, a coaster, and the standard user manual. It’s good to have something physical on-hand, in case you’re having challenges with anything. Of course, you’ll have a bunch of the usual ROG stickers included in their packaging.
There are also four SATA 6GB/s cables, three thermistor cables, two weaved SATA 6 Gbps cables, an RGB extension cable, an RGB extension cable, and addressable RGB LED extension cables. You’ll also find a Wi-Fi antenna, the ROG NODe and NODE power cable, DIMM.2 + heatsink, a NODE connector, NODE screw kit, one dual-function screwdriver, M.2 screws, a Q-Connector, SLI HB Bridge, as well as a USB with drivers.
About the Product
When you look at the motherboard, you’ll see that the company added nine fan headers on it. All of these are hybrid DC / PWM mode fans where the heatsink fans occupy one. The blue and red fan headers are all 1A-rated; however, the red shares controls.

The four PCIe slots appear wired to the PCH; one of the M.2 slots is transmitted to the PCH and the other CPU. However, it switches with the U.2 ports. Furthermore, you can use the two M.2 slots with the DIMM.2 card. These are included and can both get CPU bandwidth. But with a 28-lane CPU, the only thing you’ll get is a single M.2 slot on the DIMM.2 card.
There are a total of six SATA 6GB/s ports found on the board together with a USB 3.0 internal header that’s right-angled. You’ll also see a USB 3.1 Type-C internal header beneath the 24-pin power connector.
Looking at the top right corner of the ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega, you’ll see the Water Block header, a slow mode switch, RGB LED header, Voltage read points, plus an RSVD switch. At the bottom, and to the left of the two USB internal headers, you’ll find a safe boot, reset, retry, and a power button, plus an LN-2 mode jumper there.

Lastly, the back of the ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega comes with a hole on the PCB. It’s present to put temperature sensors, and may also be positioned and fixed in place to allow the mod to overclock the CPUs further.
The ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega sports the latest Intel Ethernet I-219-V, and comes with an LGA 2066 socket for Intel Core X-Series processors. This motherboard provides multi-GPU support for both NVIDIA 3 and 2-way SLI technology, as well as the AMD 3 and 2-way CrossFireX technology.

Now for its overclocking performance, the ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega was generally straightforward. For it to reach its full potential, we had to raise current and power limits.
After adjusting all the settings and cooling setup, we reached about 4.4 GHz utilizing all threads and cores.
The ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme Omega handled the overclock seamlessly and with ease. There weren’t any issues once we increased the current and power limits. Its VRM heatsink stayed warm with the little fans slightly rising and becoming audible during our test.
