Let’s begin with the packaging of the Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 500gb. This SSD comes in a simple-looking cardboard box. Despite this design, it’s still a sturdy box that can protect the product inside. The front displays the logo of AORUS at the centre, while AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD is below. On the rear portion of the box, you’ll find essential information about the product.
Inside, you will find the Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 500gb itself. The box also includes dual-sided copper heatsink, screws for the heatsink, plus a warranty guide.
Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 500gb Review
If you compare it to other SSDs, the Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 500gb has a unique design. First, it’s much heavier compared to other NVMe’s we’ve tried. It feels a bit like a hard drive because of the copper heatsinks’ heft. The deep grooves at the top work by boosting the copper heatsink’s surface area. For the diagonal recess that sports the AORUS logo, it looks perfect and gives a premium look to the product.
Looking at the heatsink, it sports a two-piece style that allows you to fix the drive in the bottom piece. Then, you can set the larger part at the top. You’ll find thermal tape on each of its sides to avoid damaging the drive when installing.
The Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 500gb has an M.2 2280 form factor. Its interface is the PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe 1.3 and has a maximum capacity of 1,000GB. It has a sequential read speed that goes up to 5,000MB/s while sequential write reaches 4,400MB/s.
This SSD comes with wear levelling and over-provision technologies and is supported by TRIM & S.M.A.R.T. It sports a full-body copper heat spreader, plus it conveniently has a limited 5-year warranty included.

The Phison PS5016-E16 Controller is the World First PCIe 4.0×4 Controller created by 28nm manufacturing technology. The advanced fabrication process ensures that the PS5016-E16 has sufficient computing power. It is for ECC processing when adopting the newest 3D TLC NAND flash.
The controller also has eight NAND channels with DDR4 DRAM caching, 32 CE targets, and a PCIe 4.0×4 interface. For the chip, it supports LDPC error correction, NVMe 1.3 protocol, and Wear Leveling, Over-Provision technologies. These improve the SSD’s durability and reliability.
TOSHIBA BiCS4 96-Layers 3D TLC (800MT/s)

SSD ToolBox Software
The SSD ToolBox Software is the utility for monitoring and configuring the Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 500gb. First, we tried using it to see how it works.
This updated SSD software immediately gave us an analysis of the SSDs status. Plus, we were able to see different elements like the FW version, model name, health condition, sensor temperature, etc. Furthermore, we were allowed to clear data via the Secure Erase function, which was excellent.
The SSD ToolBox Software was user-friendly, and we didn’t encounter any issue while using it. It provided all the information we needed as well, so we were satisfied with it.
Using the Product
With the attached heatsink, we were able to see a peak sequential read speed of about 3913MB/s in Anvil Pto. For the sequential write speed, it reached about 4087MB/s.
All in all, if you’re looking for speed, then the Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 500gb is your drive. It’s the fastest and efficient M.2 solid-state drive we’ve tested, and we’re delighted about it. In the past, there were other drives that we considered faster, but now, this drive from AORUS beats them out.
If you’re planning to build a system using an X570 board, then this NVMe Gen4 SSD is a great inclusion. Just like we mentioned, time equates to money. So, the faster you can go with file transfers, the more money you’re saving. It would be much better if there were other platforms other than AMD’s X570 chipset that supported the drive. But at least it’s backwards compatible with PCIe 3.0 slot, though expect to see a decrease in performance.
Gigabyte designed the drive with a large 70g all-copper heatsink. It doesn’t only look great, but it’s able to keep the temperature in check. In our tests, the drive became slightly warm; however, it didn’t throttle at all, which was good.
Overall, the Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 500gb performed excellently, and we don’t have any concerns at all. Because of that, we’re giving it two thumbs up for being a notable performer.
The Gigabyte AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 500gb is one of the fastest drives we’ve used. Its speed is higher than the previous generation, and the difference is evident. The increased rates with the games we tried were significant and load times nearly reduced by half. Loading large video files were just as fast, which is something we appreciate a lot.
