Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming Motherboard Review

When you’re all set in building a PC, the best of the best motherboards usually don’t get the necessary attention that the best processors and graphics cards do, which is really unfortunate. This is because motherboards are the most vital elements of your whole computer, and they function as its backbone, aiding and assisting your hardware to reach its full potential.

This is all done by pushing the hardware to its limits, by optimizing and using every bit of performance that’s there. In other words, you’ll get to overclock much better when you use an excellent motherboard.

Since these boards are essential to your computer, it only makes sense to purchase the best motherboard that’s out today. If you decide to get a cheaper and sub-par motherboard, it’ll just end up breaking and will force you to remake your whole PC from scratch, and that’s really not a great thing to happen.

So with that, it’d be better if you just grab the best motherboard today, so you won’t have to deal issues or problems related to replacements and the like.

Today, we’ll be talking all about the Z390 M Gaming Motherboard, checking out what it’s all about, its specs, features, how well it performs, and if it’s a board that will make your PC work better than ever.

Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming Motherboard Review

The Z390 M Gaming Motherboard from Gigabyte is a mATX motherboard for the 9th Gen processors from Intel. It shares quite a similar design and style to the Z390 Gaming X and Gaming SLI that features a classy black and grey theme with red accents on its power delivery heat sink.

Like the other motherboards mentioned, the Z390 M Gaming Motherboard sports a dual CPU 12-Volt ATX power input, specifically 8 and 4-pins, and appears to have a 12-phase arrangement just like the ATX-sized gaming boards. As for the memory support, it is pretty much the same as the Z390-M Gaming that sports a total of four RAM slots with support for up to a maximum of, and including 64GB with a published collection of supported memory speed.

When it comes to the PCIe slots, the Z390 M Gaming Motherboard features two full-length PCIe 3.0 slots which respectively work at 16-x and 4-x. The motherboard also features two PCIe 3.0 x1, and the motherboard itself supports up to 2-way Cross-Fire multi graphics card setups. It’s basically the same as the much bigger ATX-sized Z390 Gaming X.

The Z390 M Gaming Motherboard comes with six SATA ports with two extra right angled ports plus four straight angled connectors. You can find these below the 24-pin 12 Volt power input of the motherboard. The motherboard gives you a total of two M.2 slots that supports both the SATA based drives and the PCIe 3.0 x4.

Taking a look at the rear panel, the Z390 M Gaming Motherboard also has two USB 3.1 Gen2 (both Type A and ), as well as four USB 3.0 Type A ports. Added to the goods are two video outputs that consist of the HDMI and DVI-D port, a PS/2 combination, plus a mouse port. Gigabyte also included one LAN port that’s powered by the INtel I-219V Gigabit controller, as well as six 3.5 millimeter audio jacks that take their direction from the ALC-892 HD audio codec from Realtek.

Making use of the cutting edge i9 9900K CPU, the Z390 M Gaming Motherboard naturally supports speed that goes up to 2,666 MHz, while overclocking usually goes up to 4,000 MHz. The board can handle really intense and heavy graphic apps since it’s suitable for AMD’s Cross-Fire X technologies for connecting a number of GPUs.

There are also a couple of technical innovations in this Z390 M Gaming Motherboard, as well as awesome enhancements and a collection of storage solutions. For instance, there are two PCIe x1 slots, and even two PCIe x16 slots available.

There are two M.2 slots that can run extremely fast NVMe M2 SSDs that results in almost 4 GB/s of data transfer rates. This makes the M.2 PCIe SSDs about 8x faster compared to SATA 6G SSDs which is pretty cool.

A total of six SATA 6G connectors are available, and these are for the 3.5 or 2.5-inch hard drives, as well as the SSDs that include RAID support. Up to 64GB of RAM can be combined across four DIMM slots. The Z390 M Gaming Motherboard provides outstanding options for linking external peripherals.

It also sports an I/O panel made up of a collection of the latest and best connectivity standards such as four USB 3.0, two USB 3.1, as well as four USB 2.0 ports. The videos displayed by the board are via Display Port 1.2 or HDMI while the ALC-892 allows outstanding sound output.

It has a great build, is efficient, and you get all the neat stuff at a budget-friendly price. It comes with a ton of fan headers which is something we really liked, and its overall build quality is really notable. We checked out the VRM and it was able to remain cool, and honestly, we didn’t experience any issues or problems with it despite using it for heavy workloads.

The software is pretty easy to use so you won’t have any trouble using this. Great job Gigabyte. You can install RGB Fusion for the two built-in LEDs that are on the motherboard: one red backlight is found at the back of the motherboard, while the other is located at the rear I/O area.

Along with these, you will find the LED strip header on the Z390 M Gaming Motherboard which looks really good. It was easy to set up, as long as you don’t forget to install the Ambient Light app from Gigabyte’s application center which helps control and manage all the LEDs that are there.

There are basic functions available to control the LEDs, but if you also want the lights to be just white and simple, then this is still possible. Again, as we expected from Gigabyte, their Gigabyte App Center was something great. You’ll get to manage everything that you need for the motherboard, and there’s nothing half-baked about it which is good.

Also, we’re glad that it’s a user-friendly app that everyone can use without any problems at all. So with that, the Z390 M Gaming Motherboard is an awesome steal for its price, and we’re giving it a double thumbs up for its build, quality, and performance.
